I visited myself today.

Took a stroll through my own compositions.

Words strung carefully.

Heart poured.

Moments captured.

I remember writing them.

Familiar friends.

Familiar in the way it is when you run into the cashier at your grocery store but you're at your favorite restaurant instead. And the context is all wrong. And you know them, but you can't quite place from where.

I haven't changed all that much.

The same threads emerge.

Time.

Faith.

Melody.

Yet as I hold each word like a rosary ghosting across familiar fingers.

The same, yet different.

Into a world that only looks remotely like the one in which I lived when I first tied those beads together.

I realize it is good to remember who I was.

Who I am.

Who I will be.
